Amavasya Sampoorna Raksha Shaktipeeth Mahanushthan Shri Hanuman, Bhairav, Maha Kali Sampoorna Suraksha Maha Yagya for Complete Protection from Negativity and Victory over Enemies

In Sanatan Dharma, Amavasya holds special significance. According to the Puranas, negative energies are at their peak on this day. To ward off these energies, devotees worship various deities. Among them, Lord Hanuman, Lord Bhairav, and Maa Kali are revered for their powerful protection against negative forces and evil. Known as Sankatmochan, Hanuman Ji’s unmatched devotion and strength helped Lord Rama defeat Ravan during Sita’s rescue. The Ramayana tells how Hanuman leaped across the ocean to assure Sita of Rama’s promise to save her. With his bravery, intelligence, and divine powers, he played a key role in defeating enemies. Lord Hanuman is considered one of the forms of Lord Shiva and worshipping him offers divine assistance to those who seek his protection and blessings.

Just as Lord Hanuman protects his devotees from all problems and grants victory over enemies, Lord Bhairav, another Rudransh (element of Lord Shiva), is revered for dispelling fear and shielding devotees from harm. There is an ancient story behind the origin of Lord Bhairav. Once, the gods asked Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu who the supreme deity was. Lord Brahma claimed to be the greatest and even disrespected Lord Shiva. Angered by this, Shiva took the fierce form of Kaal Bhairav and, in his rage, severed Brahma’s fifth head with his nail. This act was considered Brahma Hatya (the sin of killing Brahmin). To atone for the sin, Lord Shiva instructed Kaal Bhairav to go to Earth. He arrived in Kashi, where he was freed from the sin of Brahma Hatya. Since then, Lord Shiva declared Bhairav the Kotwal (guardian) of Kashi, protecting the city and its people from evil forces.

Maa Kali, too, is a fierce protector who removes negativity and evil forces. According to the scriptures, the gods struggled to defeat the demon Raktabija, who could create new demons from every drop of his spilled blood. Maa Kali appeared on the battlefield, spreading her tongue to ensure no blood touched the ground, stopping the demon from respawning. Her intervention saved the gods from destruction and brought peace. Together, these deities dispel negative energies and remove hidden obstacles, providing devotees with Sampoorna Raksha. Therefore, the Shri Hanuman, Bhairav, and Maha Kali Sampoorna Suraksha Maha Yagya will be organised at the Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple in Kolkata on this Amavasya.

Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple, Kolkata, West Bengal
The Kali Ghat Temple, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hinduism and is considered a highly significant pilgrimage site. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, revered as the deity of power, energy, and destruction. According to mythological tales, it is believed that here, the right toe of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Shiva was carrying her burnt body and performing the Tandava dance in grief. For this reason, this place is included among the extremely sacred 51 Shakti Peethas. The temple houses an idol of Goddess Kali in a fierce form, where she is seen standing with her right foot on Lord Shiva's chest, adorned with a garland of soft skulls around his neck, holding some axes and severed heads in her hands, with some skulls tied around her waist. Her tongue is protruding outward with drops of blood dripping from it, made of gold.

The current temple was constructed under the patronage of the Saborno Roychoudhury family & Babu Kaliproshad Dutto, with construction starting in 1798 and completing in 1809. The Kali Ghat Temple holds immense religious and cultural significance. For centuries, it has been a centre of attraction for devotees who come here to fulfil their wishes. Worship of Goddess Kali at Kali Ghat liberates devotees from fear, negativity, and malevolent energies, bringing peace, prosperity, and success in life. Additionally, the temple is a symbol of Bengal's cultural heritage and hosts grand celebrations during religious festivals, especially Durga Puja and Kali Puja.
